The Grantland Avenue Trunk Sewer was developed to alleviate growing demands on the existing, undersized trunk sewer system dedicated to delivering influent to the City of Fresno’s waste water treatment plant from the Northwest Fresno area.
The trunk sewer stretches 12 miles and key project components included the design of a reinforced concrete, PVC lined junction structure; trenching and bedding design; plan development for the boring and jacking of 72” diameter pipe in steel casings; analysis and design of four miles of small diameter, parallel sewer services to be constructed at a later date; the design, relocation and preservation of flood control, irrigation and other utility facilities; multi agency coordination of large scale traffic studies, traffic detours, road closures and temporary signing and striping.
