The Fresno Irrigation District’s Victoria Colony East Branch No. 43 is a 30-inch diameter, non-reinforced, cast-in-place concrete pipe. District records indicate that the pipeline is over 40 years old and is in need of regular repairs. The pipeline is in an area that provides limited access making repairs difficult.
Blair, Church & Flynn prepared a study of possible repair solutions for the District. Sliplining the existing pipeline with 24-inch HDPE and grouting the annular space was selected by the District as the most cost effective solution. Blair, Church & Flynn prepared plans and specifications for the sliplining project, and assisted the District during bidding and construction. The project also consisted of the removal and replacement of a portion of the existing pipeline with reinforced concrete pipe. Construction of the $75,000 project was completed in spring 2010.
