In 2004, the State Community College District began construction of the Willow International Center in north-east Fresno, California. Adjacent to Clovis Unified School District’s new Clovis North Educational Center, the two combined campuses encompass over 200 acres. Located within the Willow International Center site is the Enterprise Canal. Used to convey irrigation and storm water, the channel provides a maximum water delivery flow of 115 cfs. The construction of the two campuses required the under grounding of approximately 3,500 feet of the canal via a pipeline.
Blair, Church & Flynn worked with the Fresno Irrigation District to design the 96-inch diameter pipeline, placing it within areas of the campus that would allow access for future maintenance. As part of the construction, a 45 cfs pump bypass was constructed to maintain the delivery needs of the District. With an overall project cost of $2.5 million dollars, the pipeline was installed in 90 days and without any change orders.
