Our Culture
It may seem old fashioned in today’s job-hopping climate, but those who come to Blair, Church & Flynn usually stay here for the long term. We are proud of the fact that the majority of our engineers and technical staff average over 10 years of hands-on experience with our firm.
Starting my engineering career here just felt right. Not only am I working hand-in-hand with a group of seasoned colleagues, every day I’m learning important lessons from our clients about what it means to collectively work together to improve our community.

When I came to work here there were eight of us. But the sense of who we are as a firm is still very much the same. It’s still a matter of doing the very best engineering we can do. That has always been our intent and goal. If there’s ever a question about whether something is honest or good, you always choose integrity over anything else.

During my initial interview with Mike and Ken over ten years ago, the first thing out of Ken’s mouth was, "We are not looking for another engineer, but we were impressed with your experience and thought we’d talk to you anyway," I figured it wasn't going to happen, but was happily surprised with a job offer the next day. That, to me, just cements the firm’s overall philosophy. That each one of us brings something unique in our experience. I wasn’t hired because they needed to fill a slot. I was hired because they knew bringing me on board would be beneficial to our clients.

Blair, Church & Flynn is different from any other firm I've worked at before. They listen to me when I talk about what my interests are and what I want to do with my career. When I came on board the principals actively sought out projects for me to work on that capitalize on my interests and expertise. The room for personal development and career growth that I have here is limitless. And knowing that makes me enjoy what I do even more.

I was hired to fill out lath tags for Freeway 41 construction staking. And after completing thousands of those tags, I earned my way onto the SR 168 project as a AutoCAD drafter. It was a great chance to show my ability, learn new things and provide value to the firm. The opportunities to advance here make it a great place to work.
